In the movie “300” a messenger is sent from “the god king Xerxes” to Leonidas “king of the Spartans”…….well open your bible and see which king had a role our return from Persian captivity

Rehum the chancellor and Shim´shai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerx´es the king in this sort:
Once this messenger reaches the “Spartan king” he only ask for a gesture of “earth and water”…..now grab your Apocrypha and go to

Now for the kicker, much to the surprise of many the Spartans were in fact Israelites. An important and fascinating correspondence took place between the Hebrew high priest and the king of the Spartans (Lacedemonians) of Greece. It provides evidence that the early inhabitants of Greece were in fact Israelites. A copy of this letter is found in ‘First Maccabees 12:5-23’

Jonathan the high priest, and the elders of the nation, and the priests, and the other people of the Hebrews, unto the Lacede-mon´ians(Spartans) their brethren send greeting: There were letters sent in times past unto Oni´as the high priest from Dari´us, who reigned then among you, to signify that ye are our brethren, as the copy here underwritten doth specify. It is found in writing, that the Lacede-mo´nians(Spartans) and Hebrews are brethren, and that they are of the stock of Abraham:
So what about this “pit” they are kicking people into……it’s in there too

After this, removed Bac´chi-des from Jerusalem, and pitched his tents in Bezeth, where he sent and took many of the men that had forsaken him, and certain of the people also, and when he had slain them, he cast them into the great pit.
